The class may have ended, but the memories shared in that class will last forever. There have been some pretty interesting times in that Monday morning class that I probably wonʻt ever forget. The most epic of times was “doodoo ball”. If you arenʻt familiar with this game, then you probably havenʻt had a childhood, haha jk. But what this game incorporates is rubber kickballs, a bunch of people, and a big open field. It works by having one person, or two people in our case, being the doodoo ball person(s) and the rest are not it. They must hide and/or run from the people who are it. If you get hit by the ball then you are out, until the last person is out. We did a little different style game by making everyone pair up, first pair to both get out were the next pair to be it. But my cluster definitely underestimated my doodoo ball skills. I had no partner, not that I needed one, and oh they thought they could escape my wrath, but were sadly mistaken. Ultimate doodoo ball player= Christian Dye, ultimate doodoo ball targets= Cluster 22.

I wonʻt forget ducking and dodging, plastering faces and backs with red rubber balls, and teaching the great essence of team work. Cluster 22 it has been a fun time with lots of laughs and nostalgia of great childhood games. Thank you for making my semester a great time.

ACE is all done… right? well anyways it’s been a great semester with you all and with our ACE clusters! I just want to give a shout out to my ACE cluster! cluster 9! They taught me a lot and it was a great experience. My students are all pre-business majors looking into finance, accounting, and management. They are such a hard working group of kids that don’t procrascinate. What’s really interesting is the fact that they are either partiers or  study lovers! It’s really crazy when one person is talking to you about finishing a project for class while one person is asking you when is the next club event. Ha ha I love them. I had the most fun on our last day of school, where we came together and talked about all our nostaglic events we had together. We had some sandwhiches and pepsi, with some good fun of card games.

Well it was great fun and I plan to see all these students even after ACE! thanks ACE program and I’ll see you later!

My name is Lewis and I’m the peer mentor for cluster 1. We are the educational cluster of the world.  This semester I had the privilege to work with fifteen wonderful and very strange students, and I was lucky enough to meet a very diverse bunch of individuals because all of my students hail from different parts of the world. As diverse as it was, they got along like Nutella and Banana. (Or something wonderful like that).

For my students and myself, this semester has, thus far, proven to be one of the hardest moments in our lives; We often felt that we could not hold on and continue strong.  There were many times where we all felt that it was just better to let go and quit. But through the struggles, we have been able to resurface and prove to ourselves that we can do what we set out to do.

This is the place we go to school. This is where we face struggles. This is where we grow. This is home.

I could probably go on and on about all the random things we like to do to make our CAS 110 class amusing, but it’s far too much to list ! One thing though is we like to play pranks one each other in order to have a good laugh. Another thing cluster #4 really enjoyed was going to the athletic events, like the football games.

    That being said, I hope everyone had as great of a semester as I did. I’m going to miss being their peer mentor !

Needless to say I was thoroughly pleased with every class as my kids and I unwound from a long week of hard work. We’d share in each other’s misery in labs, join in everyone else’s satisfaction on exam scores, and laugh together about a silly video we’d caught sight of on  youtube.  Classes in general were easily the best part of our cluster. Although we did attend a movie night here and there, and held class in Yogurtland, I do believe a majority of our memories were formed in good ol’ Room 108.  All the games we played, all the conversations we’ve had– they will remain with me for always, and I do sincerely hope that my kids feel the same.

The funny thing about how much fun my kids and I had was that everyone came from a different place, story, and life. Many of them came from the mainland, spanning their place of origin all over the country. A few were from right here on O`ahu, and I was from my own home island. As we found throughout the course, we all have different tastes in music, different learning styles, and different cultures. And yet somehow we managed to find some common ground and breeze right through the first semester. These kids of mine, I tell you, they are going places. They have all the potential in the world to do whatever it is they want to do. And the best part? One day I will be able to call them my colleagues, and THAT will be one of the proudest days of my life.

At times I feel like I’m the student and they are the ones teaching me. When school becomes stressful, I remember my students and realize that I have nothing to complain about. I have a pre-nursing cluster of 12 fun and vibrant guys and gals from both Hawaii and the mainland,  currently taking 17 credits. Along with their classes, some of them are also working. That’s a quite a bit for a freshman and I give them big props!

The month of October was a busy one! Two awesome events that passed were the Walk for Breast Cancer and the ACE Halloween Bash! I was super happy because Cluster 21 really represented! Definitely felt like a proud mama bear seeing more than half of my cluster rocking our decorated tees at the Breast Cancer Walk, and watching them participate in the ACE Bash activities.

Now nearing the end of the ACE program, I am happy that my cluster 21-ers will be able to focus more of their time on their other classes, but I am also sad to part with them. I really enjoyed picking fun and silly ice breakers for them to do, or listening to them joke around while waiting for CAS 110 to start, the list goes on! Cluster 21-ers, I wish you the best of luck and I know that you will be excellent nurses or any other pathways that you choose to embark on! Stay awesome!

My cluster consists of 13 amazing bunch of adventurous, intelligent, and hard working students.  My entire cluster created a RIO group called the Outdoor Adventurers at University of  Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.  At first, I thought that everyone decided to join the same RIO, but I was shocked and excited to know that they created their own RIO.  My cluster as an RIO went fishing, and they hope to go hiking, hunting, and anything that involves the outdoors.  When they plan for their next event, and time permits, I may join them on their adventure!!  If you are interested in the outdoors also, join us!!

It is already November, and I hope that everyone had a happy Halloween and is having a great semester!  Enjoy your last week of your cluster.  Keep the friendships you have made and know that we, your ACE ʻohana, are here for you.  I hope you all have enjoyed your journey and just remember that this journey has just begun.  Look forward to the wonderful experiences you all will take and take all that you have learned to help you along the way.  Have a great rest of the semester and I wish you all the best.  :)

I’m Shea, the peer mentor in charge of cluster 5- a.k.a. the swag family. These 14 charming freshmen under my tutelage are mostly from Hawai’i with a couple from the mainland. Right my now my cluster is taking Hawaiian Studies, a COMM class, and an intro to religions- which they claim is their favorite. My class has been great at actually showing up and I really thank them for that haha ☺

I think the class liked it when we took a retreat to the land of Yogurt for the lesson on plagiarism. It was a tough one but with a tub of delicious frozen goodness in front of you, who wouldn’t be inclined to listen a little better?
