Aloha CAS 110 Students,
I would like to welcome you to the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa as you embark on your collegiate experience. My name is Garritt Visser and it will be a privilege to work with you and help improve your transition from high school to the university throughout your first semester. I am a senior majoring in International Business, Management and Finance. I have aspirations of running my own management consulting firm by combining all three degrees. I love pho and enjoy all physical activities that keep me outdoors. Sports have been an essential part of my life and I’ll never turn down the opportunity to go boogie boarding, hiking, fishing or watch a game of any venue.
As for this semester, we will be having a great time. This class will be like non-other you have taken or ever will take. My only request is that you bring a positive attitude and an open mind as they will be essential in making this class as rewarding to you as possible. It is fair to say that you will gain as much from CAS 110 as you put into it. With that, you have the opportunity to grow as a student and a person while meeting new friends, trying new things and engaging yourself in your studies
I hope you have a wonderful summer and I look forward to meeting and working with you throughout the Fall 2009 semester!
Sincerely,
Garritt Visser
P.S. Some of my favorites!
Hey Everyone!! Hope you are excited about coming to UHM, for some it will be a little home away from home and for others this is a huge landscape change!
Let me introduce myself, my name is Taylor Ruggless and I am cluster twelve’s peer mentor! I am a Junior majoring in Women/Gender and Law, and as of current a speech minor (once I declare it
). I am from Arizona, but I have lived all over. My hope is to go to law school, and then travel the rest of the world. I love to travel! Other then that I am a pretty outdoorsy type of person, going to the beach, hiking etc., and love to hang out with my family, and friends. FYI I am pretty easy to talk to, so feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns.
I am so very excited that I will get to meet you all soon! Some sooner then others if you go through the NSO (new student orientation) before school starts, because I am on of the leader for the program. Come say hi if you do come to orientation and don’t be shy!
And just to let you guys know, it may feel scary or rough sometimes, but college is such a wonderful experience, just remember I have been in your shoes before, and I turned out alright… I think
!!
One quote that I think that you guys should remember coming to UHM is… If you have a college degree you can be absolutely sure of one thing… you have a college degree, and no one can take that away from you.
