Hey all,

My name is Mercedes- and no I was not named after the car.  My name is Spanish.  Believe it or not I am half Hispanic, and then have a bunch of other ethnicities thrown in.  I have 8 siblings although I only grew up with three of them.  I was born and raised here in the islands, but I look like I’m from Cali.  I love Hawaii and never want to leave.  I have a dog and a bunny.  I love animals especially turtles.  I don’t know why but they are, by far, my favorite animal.  I work three jobs so I am very very busy.  I like to travel.  I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do so you’d better stay in line, nah just kidding.  IMG_9759IMG_9839I’m a psychology major.  I also work as an academic advisor in Manoa Advising Center.  You are welcome to visit me there with any school-related questions you might have.

I shouldn’t acutally summer is here seeing as, technically there is still one more week of school.  Oh well, I will anyway.  I hope you all have a wonderful summer and I will see you in August!!!

Lots of Love,

Mercedes

Hello everyone!

My name is Michelle Lam and I am an upcoming senior majoring in Travel Industry Management in Fall 2009.  I am sooooo excited to have been chosen as an ACE Peer Mentor!!!  I’ve been to four different college institutions since high school so I feel that I know how to deal with transition pretty darn well haha.  By being a peer mentor, I hope to help freshmen find their way around a college campus and all it has to offer.  Compared to the other ACE Mentors, I am fairly new to UH Manoa since I am just completing my second semester here so I hope to learn and grow with my freshmen cluster.

Here is a wee bit about myself…I am exteremly easily amused.  It’s kind of a good because the simple things can make me smile!  I love to eat!  It has been proven that if there is food in front of me, I’ll eat it.  I work hard and play hard.  When I’m not at school or work, I love going shopping, eating, hiking, clubbing, and to the beach!  The beach part is a little hard to believe since I am like the fairest person on this island.  Life is short, have FUN!

Anyhoo, I can’t wait to meet you guys in the Fall.  It should be a fun semester!  Have a great summer, everyone!

♥, Michelle
